ORC Parking UPDATE

Date

Friday May 5, 2023

The parking lot expansion for the Outdoor Recreation Complex at 3245 Hamilton Road, Dorchester is approximately 50% complete and it is estimated that the balance will be completed by May 12th.

As a result the Municipality of Thames Centre is providing the following recommendations for safe and stress free enjoyment of the ORC during this time:

Hamilton Road – No Parking in 80km/hr Zone

Hamilton Road is a County-owned roadway, and for the portion that runs past the ORC, it is an 80 kilometre per hour zone where roadside parking is strictly prohibited.  Please note that this ‘No Parking’ zone applies to both sides of Hamilton Road in this area.

Recommendations for Visitors to the ORC

1 – consider walking or cycling to the ORC via Thames Centre’s trail system (Harry Small Trail to Weaver Trail).

2 – carpool with other families/teammates to reduce the demand for parking spaces

3 – drop off players/participants at the ORC (assuming the coach/team does not require guardian supervision for their practices or games).

Accessible Parking

With guidance/input from the Middlesex County Accessibility Coordinator, plans are in place to provide designated accessible parking spaces at the ORC.  Those plans ultimately include the hard surfacing of all accessible parking spaces, however, that hard surfacing may not occur right away.
