Celebrating The Exceptional Lord Dorchester S.S. Robotics Class
Lord Dorchester Secondary School's Robotics class boasts truly remarkable students! Mayor McMillan was thrilled to meet the outstanding FIRST Robotics Competition Team #8789, famously known as The Lost Sockets!
Their unwavering commitment to STEM is nothing short of inspiring. The Municipality is proud to donate $5,000 towards these future leaders, investing in their bright futures.
Guided by dedicated educators Mr. Dawson and Mr. Janes, alongside their team, the Lost Sockets embody inclusivity and innovation. They bring together students from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, demonstrating the incredible power of teamwork and creativity.
These students work together to design, build and program robots to go head-to-head against other school teams in challenging field games. As they gear up for the imminent FIRST Robotics Competition this weekend, our excitement knows no bounds! Follow their Instagram for live updates as they embark on this electrifying journey.
Every year, students embark on the challenge of crafting a brand-new robot from scratch. This years robotic has some pretty remarkable features: it levitates effortlessly, has one of the fastest speeds in the FIRST Robotics Competition, and maneuvers with exceptional agility in all directions using its swerve drive system.
These students are actively involved in giving back to our community through volunteer work with organizations like the Playroom Experiment—a true testament to their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.
Let's continue to rally behind and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our local students. Together, they are not just shaping the future, but also making it brighter. We're honored to be part of their remarkable journey!
