Green Champion Awards Launched Today!

Awards Will Recognize Contributions Made to Protect Our Environment

THAMES CENTRE – Mayor Sharron McMillan announced the launch of Thames Centre’s Green Champion Awards.

The Green Champion awards will recognize outstanding individuals, organizations, and businesses that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to sustainability, conservation, and environmental stewardship.

“We want to recognize the people in our community who are making a difference,” said Mayor Sharron McMillan. “These awards will show our appreciation for the outstanding efforts being made to advance green initiatives. They will also allow us to share the stories of these environmentally-conscious people, and hopefully inspire more residents to follow their lead.”

Mayor McMillan made the announcement at today’s Mayor’s Breakfast, in front of an audience of almost 150 people. The Mayor’s Breakfast was sponsored by McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers.

Mayor McMillan noted that the public can start making nominations for Green Champion Awards starting today.

“The Green Champion Awards will rely on community engagement to recognize the people, groups, and businesses who are making a difference,” noted CAO David Barrick. “Thames Centre residents have shown a remarkable commitment to conservation and sustainability, as shown by the strong participation we saw in last year’s environmental survey and Green Town Halls.”

To nominate a Green Champion, residents can fill out the form available at https://forms.thamescentre.on.ca/Green-Champion-Award-Nomination-Form.
