Thames Centre Recognized As One of The Best Places to Work
THAMES CENTRE – The Municipality of Thames Centre has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Southwestern Ontario.
“Thames Centre is a great community,” said Mayor Sharron McMillan. “The Municipality of Thames Centre being on this list is a testament to great people we have here, who are dedicated to their jobs and committed to providing the best service we can to our community.”
The Best Places to Work recognition is the result of a study performed by Ahria Consulting, in association with London Inc magazine that identifies “amazing places to work.” Employers are scored using the results of an employee engagement assessment designed with the help of members of Western University’s Industrial Organizational Psychology department.
The Municipality of Thames Centre finished in 6th place in the medium-sized workplace category.
"Achieving a top ten ranking in your category is a powerful testament to being an exceptional workplace. It signifies that employees are deeply committed to their roles, passionate about their work, and consistently give their best efforts," said Terry Gillis, CEO of Ahria Consulting, who played a pivotal role in developing the assessment protocol.
Based on anonymous employee surveys, the Municipality of Thames Centre scored 8 points out of a possible 9 in each of the 5 categories: Interest, Dedication, Effort, Atmosphere, and Leadership.
“We are proud to be recognized for our people-first approach,” said CAO David Barrick. ”Our “One Team” philosophy is more than a tagline, it means building an environment where people value the jobs that they do, and feel supported by each other to get those jobs done. Establishing a workplace that lives up to our Organizational Core Values is good for employees, and good for the people who call Thames Centre home.”
On February 15, 2024 Thames Centre Council voted to establish a set of Organizational Core Values. These values, Compassion, Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Inclusivity and Communication, serve as guiding principles for staff, and provide a shared sense of purpose and integrity as they work towards fulfilling Council's objectives and delivering exceptional municipal services to residents.
