RECOGNITION WALLS TO HONOUR MINOR SPORTS IN THAMES CENTRE
Sports Groups Will Be Able to Recognize their Achievements at the Thorndale Lions Community Centre and the FlightExec Centre
THAMES CENTRE – Thames Centre Council has approved a new Sports Recognition Wall program that allows for more local athletes to be recognized for their contributions to minor sports.
This new program invites local minor sports associations to place content on the walls of either the Thorndale Lions Community Centre or the FlightExec Centre that reflects the successes of their members.
“This program allows for greater community involvement, and greater recognition of the activities, milestones, and achievements of local athletes,” added Thames Centre Sports Wall of Fame Committee Chair Chantel Crockett. “It allows local associations to celebrate not only athletes, but anyone who played an integral role in their sports, such as coaches, trainers, volunteers, and even fans in our community.”
The Sports Recognition Walls at the Thorndale Lions Community Centre and FlightExec Centre will feature photos, awards and other content from sports groups and organizations.
Sports Recognition Walls will allow for the celebration of many minor sports athletes in Thames Centre that may not meet the criteria for the Sports Wall of Fame.
“This initiative is all about acknowledging the contributions of more local athletes, and helping to share their stories with the community,” said CAO David Barrick. “By giving individual minor sports associations an opportunity to share those stories on Sports Recognition Walls, we hope to build a more inclusive and vibrant atmosphere at our facilities.”
